When we talk about best-selling banjos, we are specifically talking about banjos that we have for sale. We don’t carry every brand in the world. In fact, we are quite choosey and only carry banjos that we know are high quality and sound great. This happens to be predominantly American-made banjos. So if you run down to your local big box store, don’t be surprised if their best sellers don’t make our list.

We sell a lot of Deering made banjos, particularly, their Goodtime by Deering series. Goodtime banjos are well-built, sound fantastic, and are an excellent value. Our two top-selling models are easily the Goodtime Openback and Goodtime 2. We wrote a comparison here that breaks down key differences. Other best sellers that you may want to consider if this is your first banjo, the Goodtime Americana and Goodtime Special. The Americana has a 12” rim compared to the 11” you’ll find in other Goodtime banjos. This produces deeper base notes.
